Kakinada: The 100 per cent strike rate by film star-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan has forced noted Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham to concede defeat and declare on Wednesday that he has started the process to change his name to Padmanabham Reddy. Pawan turned into a giant killer in the State by ensuring victory of his party candidates in all the 21 Assembly segments and two Lok Sabha constituencies from where Jana Sena Party fielded candidates as part of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Known for raking up controversies, Padmanabham who campaigned aggressively against Pawan in the Pithapuram Assembly constituency said the election result in Pithapuram and the entire State has devastated him. “I don't know why the welfare schemes, introduced by Jagan Mohan Reddy, first of its kind in the country, have failed to impress the people,” Padmanabham wondered. He said as per his promise, he has started the process for gazette notification to change his name. Padmnabham had taken a pledge that if he would not have ensured the defeat of Pawan in Pithapuram in Kakinada district he would change his name. The YSRCP leadership fielded former MP Vanga Geeta against Pawan saying if she won, she would be made a Deputy CM.
